Michael Binder, Ph.D.

Michael Binder is the Assistant Vice President of Faculty Relations at University of North Florida. He formerly served as the Faculty Director of UNF’s Public Opinion Research Laboratory (PORL), the UNF Faculty Association President and UNF Board of Trustee member. He also served as a post Post-Doc and Visiting Scholar at Stanford University’s Hoover Institution, he received his Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of California, San Diego in 2010.  His research interests include voter decision-making, direct democracy, American politics and public opinion. His book, Florida and the 2016 election of Donald J. Trump, detailed what happened in 2016 with and looked toward our current political landscape. He is a regular contributor to various media outlets and his research has been published in Political Behavior, Political Research Quarterly, American Review of Politics, Journal of Interpersonal Violence the California Journal of Public Policy and the California Western Law Review.  He was involved in the first ever statewide Deliberative Poll® held in California and is currently working to improve the experience of faculty members at UNF.

Dr. Binder is an active member of the American Political Science Association, American Association for Public Opinion Research, Association of Academic Survey Research Organizations.
